During her guided tour, she spoke with the memorial team, viewed both exhibi- tions and visited the quarry. She was accompanied by Dr Christa Schikorra (Head of the Education Department), Karl Freller (Director of the Bavarian Memorial Foundation) andWerner Karg (Bavarian Ministry of Education and Culture). J U L Y Stars of David restored The memorial site in Steinrain- Mallersdorf honours the Jewish victims of the death marches. Each victim is symbolically represented by a Star of David. Various pupils from local schools took part in a special project to restore the 67 wooden symbols at the Jewish memorial. Their return was marked by a ceremonial event on 21 July.
