The diplomatic visit highlighted the importance of memorial work and remembrance of the victims of National Socialism. M A Y Premiere of The Dachau Trials On 19 May, The Dachau Trials pre- miered at the Dachau Memorial. Based on previously unpublished notes and records made by U.S. judge Warren Lambert and additional accounts from contemporary witnesses, the theatre production places the survivors at its centre. Their testimonies are juxtaposed with the defendants’ attempts to deny responsibility for their crimes. The play was created in cooperation with the Research Department of the Dachau Memorial as a project designed to complement the special exhibition Dachau Trials – Crimes, Proceedings and Responsibility.
