82   ALBUM 2022 | IMPRESSIONS 2022 ©Dachau Memorial ©Dachau Memorial J u l y Study on the “herb garden” On 11 July, Dr Anne Sudrow publicly presented the results of her study entitled Heil Kräuter Kulturen for the first time at the Dachau Me- morial ( Healing Herb Cultures , with “Heal” also meaning “Hail”, a play on words). Her research, commissioned by the Dachau Memorial, shows that the experimental gardens op- erated by the SS at Dachau served as a centre for organic agriculture and alternative medicine during the Nazi era. The presentation of these new insights into the “herb garden” marked the opening of a themed week exploring the connections between naturopathy, ecological agriculture and SS terror. Dr Gabriele Hammermann gave the opening speech. J U N E Canadian Ambassador visits Dachau On 22 June, the Canadian Ambassa- dor to Germany, Stéphane Dion, visited the Dachau Memorial together with Consul General David Dunkerley and Vice-Consul Colleen McCrank. The delegation was welcomed by Karl Freller, who guided them through the memorial with Dr Christoph Thonfeld (Deputy Director of the Dachau Memorial).
