IMPRESSIONS | ALBUM 2022 81 ©Dachau Memorial ©Thomas Geiger J u l y “ErinnerungsRÄUME” art competition On 23 July, the awards ceremony for the art competition “Erinnerungs- RÄUME | Sites of Suffering and Crimes – A Commitment to Humani- ty” took place in Hersbruck. As patron of the event, Karl Freller (Director of the Bavarian Memorial Founda- tion) congratulated the winners, the ensemble Erinnerungsraum, for their sound collage Breaking the Silence . The competition, launched in 2021 by the Documentation Centre Hersbruck, the town of Hersbruck and the district of Nürnberger Land, is dedicated to sites of terror in Hers- bruck, Happurg and Pommelsbrunn. 40 artists and school groups explored the theme through a variety of genres. S E P T E M B E R Young Transatlantic Initiative commemorates victims in Dachau On 13 September, Elisa Valentin, General Delegate of Québec, visited the Dachau Memorial with a group of young women and men from the Young Transatlantic Initiative (IjT). Karl Freller accompanied them on a guided tour.
