72   ALBUM 2022 | ACT OF REMEMBRANCE IN FLOSSENBÜRG 2022 J A N U A R Y Act of remembrance in Flossenbürg On 26 January, the Bavarian State Parliament and the Bavarian Memorial Foundation hosted a joint commemoration for the victims of National Socialism, with a focus on people persecuted because of their sexual orientation. The event took place at the Flossenbürg Memorial, where a stone stele was unveiled in remembrance of homosexual victims. The stele was envisioned and donated by Fliederlich e.V., an association based in Nuremberg. It was created by stonemason and artist Bastian Brauwer. The act of remembrance included speeches by Ilse Aigner (President of the Bavarian State Parliament), Karl Freller (Director of the Bavarian Memorial Foundation) and Bastian Brauwer (sculptor). Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event was held without an audience but was broadcast live on BR Fernsehen.
