The updated agreement provides additional financial support and establishes a monitoring office to record and combat anti-Roma incidents. Its aim is to strengthen remembrance culture, promote equality and safeguard the rights of Sinti and Roma communities in Bavaria. F E B R U A R Y New President of the CID On 25 February, Dominique Boueilh took office as the new President of the Comité International de Dachau (CID), succeeding General Jean-Michel Thomas. Boueilh’s father was arrested by the Gestapo in France in 1944 and deported to Dachau, where he was liberated in 1945. During his first official visit to the Dachau Memorial, he was welcomed by Karl Freller (Director of the Bavarian Memorial Foundation) and Dr Gabriele Hammermann (Director of the Dachau Memorial). The new CID President reaffirmed his commitment to continuing and strengthening the long-standing collaboration in remembrance of Dachau’s victims. Boueilh also serves as President of the French Dachau Camp Community (Amicale Française du Camp de Dachau) and as Secretary-General of the Union of French Associations for the Memory of Nazi Camps (Union des Associations de Mémoire des Camps Nazis), whose founding members include the French survivors’ organisations for Buchenwald, Dachau, Mauthausen, Neuengamme, Oranien- burg-Sachsenhausen and Ravensbrück. He had previously been a member of the CID Board for 15 years.
