46 ALBUM 2024 | IMPRESSIONS 2024 A P R I L Anniversary of the liberation of Dachau The work of the Bavarian Memorial Foundation is guided by three committees, whose members reflect the broad range of regional institutions and associations devoted to remembrance culture. By drawing on multiple perspectives – from survivors and victim group representatives to political actors and education specialists – the Foundation is able to respond to current societal challenges and develop innovative approaches to educational work. At the end of 2024, the Foundation Council appointed members to the Board of Trustees and the Academic Advisory Board for the 2024–2028 term. The Board of Trustees has an advisory role and participates in all major decisions. It is composed of up to 15 members – appointed by the Foundation Council for a four-year term – representing survivors’ organisations and civil society groups. It consists of up to seven national and international experts who support the Bavarian Memorial Foundation in an advisory capacity. Its members are appointed by the Foundation Council for a four-year term. For the 2024–2028 term, the Academic Advisory Board is composed as follows: • Chair: Prof. Krzysztof Ruchniewicz,Warsaw, Poland • Deputy Chair: Prof. Katja Makhotina, Acting Chair of Modern and Contemporary History with a focus on the History of Eastern Europe, Friedrich-Alexander- University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
