D e c e m b e r Important milestone in remembrance work An important milestone in remem- brance work was reached on 2 December with the signing of a lease for the historically significant section of the former Wurmstein quarry at the Flossenbürg concentra- tion camp. As part of the extensive redesign planned for the Flossen- bürg Memorial, the quarry is set to become an authentic site that will be central to educating about Nazi crimes and remembering the suffer- ing inflicted upon the victims. The quarry had originally prompted the establishment of the Flossenbürg concentration camp in 1938, where prisoners were forced to extract granite under brutal conditions. After commercial mining operations ended in 2024, the area was made available for use as a memorial site. N O V E M B E R Inaugural visit by Consul General Dr James Miller On 8 November, the newly appoint- ed U.S. Consul General in Munich, Dr James N. Miller, visited the Dachau Memorial with his family.
