IMPRESSIONS | ALBUM 2025 35 ©Municipality of Poing ©Bavarian Memorial Foundation A P R I L Commemoration in Poing Since 2010, a memorial consisting of 50 iron sculptures has stood in Poing in remembrance of the victims of the crimes committed on 27 April 1945. At this year’s commemorative event, two new plaques were ceremonious- ly unveiled by First Mayor Thomas Stark and Dr Jascha März, Head of Research Services and Archives at the Bavarian Memorial Foundation. The memorial plaques shed light on the “death train”, the events in Poing, and the Mühldorf subcamp complex. This new educational resource was designed by a group of pupils at the Franz Marc Gymnasium in Markt Schwaben, guided by a team of ex- perts. The project was implemented by the municipality of Poing and the Bavarian Memorial Foundation. F E B R U A R Y U.S. Vice-President visits the Dachau Memorial On 13 February, U.S. Vice-President JD Vance visited the Dachau Memorial ahead of the Munich Security Conference. He and his wife were guided through key areas of the exhibition by Karl Freller, Dr Gabriele Hammermann and contemporary witness Abba Naor.
