Those in attendance included relatives of victims, as well as representatives of the Bundeswehr, the 7th U.S. Army, local authorities and the Jewish community. ©Bavarian Memorial Foundation A p r i l New memorial plaques in Türkheim On 27 April, new information steles were unveiled at the memorial for the Kaufering VI-Türkheim subcamp to mark the 80th anniversary of liberation. The steles were jointly erected by the municipality of Türk- heim and the Bavarian Memorial Foundation. The original memorial was installed in 1950. M A Y Commemoration in Nammering On 10 May, 300 people came to­ gether at the former Nammering railway station to remember the “days of terror” of 1945. The speeches were led by the Director of the Bavarian Memorial Foundation, Karl Freller, who stressed that the unimaginable can be closer to home than we might think. This site has hosted annual commemorations since 1985 to remember the crimes of National Socialism and send a clear message to those who would rather forget the past.
