This transfer paved the way for a new place of remembrance and enabled the dignified com- memoration of one of the most significant architectural testimonies to National Socialist forced labour in Bavaria. The bunker site is a central relic of the former Mühldorf subcamp complex. The bunker arch documents the suffering inflicted on thousands of concentration camp prisoners who were forced to work under inhu- mane conditions. The transfer of ownership followed a lengthy ord- nance clearance and a complex land exchange procedure. Following the transfer, a third concentration camp memorial site can now be created in the Mühldorfer Hart.
