The memory of the suffering caused by the systematic violation of human dignity can – when it reaches in and touches our souls – renew our resolve to stand up for human dignity today. That is why I am grateful for acts of remembrance like today’s. And that is why I am grateful that we will now hear from Leon Weintraub, who is gracious enough to share his own personal memories.
