SURVIVORS AND LIBERATORS | SPEECHES   139 Survivors and Liberators ©Dachau Memorial / G. Hassel I am a Holocaust survivor from Kowal, Poland, and I survived twelve camps. I had a mother and father, three sisters and two brothers. I am the only survivor. I survived Auschwitz, Birkenau, Dachau and many other camps in and around Poznan in Poland. I also survived theWarsaw Ghetto, then Auschwitz, the   Warsaw Ghetto once more, then Dachau. From Dachau to Camp No. 7, which is located in Landsberg. Back to Dachau, then on the road for a death march, but was liberated by the American troops in Königsdorf on 2 May 1945. After I was liberated, I continued to live in Germany for four more years, in Eppenhausen, until I left for the United States. I had to witness the most awful atrocities towards mankind: hangings, people beaten to death, shootings, mass killings, and masses and masses of dead bodies. Things I never want to see in my life again. I am very proud today of the efforts Germany has made to heal the many, many wounds and am very happy and proud to be back here today to celebrate with you the 78th anniversary of the liberation of this camp, Dachau.
