Lubinsky’s exhibition combined history, materiality and abstraction to interrogate commemorative cultures, using granite as a metaphor for remem- brance and transformation. 2 0 2 2 ‘The Cold Eye’ 13 May 2022 – 6 November 2022 In late 1941, two Viennese scholars took photographs of over 100 Jew- ish families in Tarnów. There were 565 people in total. And only 26 of them survived the Holocaust. One of them was Steve Israeler. This exhibition documented the work carried out by the two scholars while also depicting the lives of Jews in Tarnów before 1939 and the destruction of the local Jewish community, as reflected in the preserved photographs.
